12 November 2024
In 2015 a forecast was made as part of a Foundation Briefing on ‘The Nuclear Crisis Over Iran’ that:
“In summary, the initial hypothesis of the JCPOA [Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action] is rejected and the alternative hypothesis is adopted: this Plan will lead to war, barring conversion. It is not suggested that Israel has already taken the decision to launch an attack on Iran’s military and other targets. Rather, when the Golden Rule is applied to the material facts of the conflict, this is the result.” (p.134)
In 2024, Israel has attacked Iran in April and October within the timescale predicted although obviously the author, Dr Southwood, had no direct control over events.
Similarly the political entities behind the JCPOA had no control over the direction of the conflict to war rather than to a state of peace, as they had intended. In the long term, the author argues, in the conflict of God v The State His laws always prevail. This is reflected in two open letters published side-by-side to aid comparison on 12 November 2024: one to the Israeli Prime Minster; the other to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran.
Providentially, the Archbishop of Canterbury has resigned today, which is a step the author suggested to him (for different reasons) by open letter dated Ash Wednesday 2023.
